As the CEO of Hambantota International Port, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to all our online visitors. Our port, strategically located at the southern tip of Sri Lanka, is committed to reshaping the maritime industry in the region. At Hambantota International Port, we are dedicated to delivering world-class services that meet the dynamic needs of the global shipping and logistics sectors.
The maritime industry is experiencing rapid changes, and with these changes come both challenges and opportunities. We face shifts in global trade patterns, technological advancements, and the urgent need for environmental sustainability. Through close collaboration with our diverse business partners and stakeholders, we are continuously adapting and innovating to stay ahead of these trends. This partnership-driven approach enables us to navigate these challenges with resilience and agility.
As we look ahead, Hambantota International Port is focused on expansion into six key strategic platforms, each aimed at strengthening our position as a vital maritime hub:
1. South Asia Energy Service Center – We aim to become the leading energy logistics center, supporting energy companies and providing sustainable solutions for energy distribution in the region.
2. South Asia RORO Transshipment Center – As a leader in Roll-on/Roll-off (RORO) operations, we will further develop our capacity to serve the automotive industry, enhancing vehicle transshipment efficiency.
3. Sri Lanka Bulk Cargo Distribution Center – We are committed to developing the port as a premier hub for the distribution of bulk cargo, supporting regional economic growth.
4. South Asia Maritime Service Center – By providing comprehensive maritime services, we will establish ourselves as a key player in the South Asian maritime industry, offering a wide range of ship maintenance and repair services.
5. Regional Container Transshipment Center – We are positioning the port as a major transshipment center, connecting global shipping lines and enhancing the flow of containerized goods.
6. Port Industry Concentration Area – We will continue to build on our strategic position, concentrating on industrial and logistical services to support the broader growth of the port sector in South Asia.

Wilson QuChief Executive Officer
Wilson Qu currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer for the Hambantota International Port Group (Private) Limited with effect from 03rd September 2024.
With 27 years of extensive experience in port operations management, marketing, business development, and safety management, Wilson brings a wealth of expertise to our team. His impressive career includes significant roles at Dalian Port Authority and various logistics management companies in China, where he demonstrated a commitment to operational excellence and strategic growth. Before joining HIPG, he served as the Executive General Manager of the Operations and Marketing Division of CMPort.
Wilson holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Ship Electrical Management and a Master of Engineering degree in Transportation Planning and Management from Dalian Maritime University, China. His strong academic background, combined with his practical experience, positions him well to lead the Hambantota International Port into a new era of growth and innovation.
Ravindra JayawickremeCEO HIPS / Chief Officer - Marine Services and Security
Ravindra Jayawickreme currently holds dual roles as the Chief Executive Officer of Hambantota International Port Services Company and the Chief Security Officer of Hambantota International Ports Group.
Having joined the Sri Lanka Ports Authority as a Marine Pilot, he was subsequently promoted as the Harbour Master, a post he held for twelve years. On his retirement from Public service, he joined the Hambantota International Port.
He is a Master Mariner by Profession having obtained his Masters (Foreign Going) Certificate of Competency from the Ministry of Transport, United Kingdom.
Daniel FuDeputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO)
Daniel Fu is possessing over 20 years of work experience related to port planning and engineering. Currently, he is the Assistant Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) of the Hambantota International Port.
In addition to his Executive Committee Member role, he is accountable for the Engineering and Technology Management(ETM) function of the Hambantota International Port Group providing visionary leadership to develop the port infrastructure in a sustainable manner with the latest engineering and technology applications. As one of the pioneering team members of the company, he played a significant role in the setting up and formalizing the framework for HIPG. Prior to being appointed as the ACEO he served as the Senior General Manager of ETM department.
He started his career in the engineering division of Shekou Container Terminals (SCT) under China Merchants Port Holdings, where he served for 10 years. After which he was assigned with the role of heading the engineering department for the Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) in Sri Lanka. He led the process of formalizing the CICT engineering function as well as he was instrumental in the journey of transforming the Terminal into a green operation. Daniel holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation from Wuhan University of Technology, China.
Greg ChenChief Strategy Officer
Greg Chen currently holds the position of Chief Strategy Officer for the Hambantota International Port Group.
Previously, He held the position as Deputy Chief Engineer (Concurrently work as Manager, Equipment Department & Information Department) of Fuzhou Port Group Co., then transferred to be Deputy General Manager for 3 of leading Fuzhou Container Terminals.(integrated operation with annual throughput volume over 3 million TEUs)
Having been engaged in port development planning, implementation projects and container terminal operation at Fuzhou’s newly developing container port area for over 20 years, he possessed for substantial work experience through diversified port careers spanning over engineering, IT, safety, development and management.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Xiamen University, China.
Kinney WuCFO
Kinney Wu currently holds the position of Chief Financial Officer for the Hambantota International Port Group. With a wealth of Financial Management experience gained through a career, spanning over 20 years of experience across ports and other businesses establishments, while holding senior management positions at CMPort, CMHI and Shenzhen Haiqin Project Management Company Limited. Prior to joining HIPG, he was functioning as the CFO of Shantou China Merchants Port Group Co., Ltd.
He holds undergraduate and Postgraduate Degrees from the Xiamen University.
