HIP Cricket Team Secures Runners-Up Spot at CASA Six-A-Side Tournament 2026

The Hambantota International Port (HIP) Cricket Team delivered an impressive performance at the CASA Six-A-Side Softball Cricket Tournament 2026, finishing as Runners-up after a series of exciting matches against leading teams from Sri Lanka’s ports, terminals and shipping sector.

Organised by the Ceylon Association of Shipping Agents (CASA), the tournament was held on 22 February 2026 at the NCC Grounds, bringing together industry teams for a day of competitive cricket and camaraderie.

Demonstrating strong teamwork, skill and determination, the HIP squad battled through several closely contested games to secure the runners-up position. The achievement marks the fourth time HIP has finished as runners-up in seven appearances at the tournament, showcasing the team’s consistent performance in this well-known industry sporting event.

The matches were played in an energetic atmosphere, with enthusiastic support from HIP’s Executive Committee (EXCO), Operational Committee (OPCO) and colleagues, who came out in large numbers to cheer on the team throughout the day.

Their encouragement created a vibrant environment at the grounds and played a key role in motivating the players during the tournament.

The CASA Six-A-Side Cricket Tournament is an annual event that brings together professionals from Sri Lanka’s maritime and logistics sectors, strengthening industry relationships while celebrating the country’s shared passion for cricket.
