Chief of Sri Lanka Customs visits Hambantota Port

A delegation of Customs officials led by Director General of Customs, Major General (Rtd) Vijitha Ravipriya visited the Hambantota International Port recently.  Johnson Liu, CEO of the Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG), Tissa Wickramasinghe, COO, and Raymond Mu, CFO met with the Customs officials. 

The customs delegation who held successful discussions with the HIP team also commented on the port’s readiness to commence container handling, and how well-equipped HIP was to begin this operation. On completing the preliminary inspection, the customs officials expressed their satisfaction with the new office space and amenities allocated to customs by HIP, agreeing that the space was well suited for them to carry out their duties at the port. 

The visiting delegation was given a familiarisation tour of the port and were briefed on the ongoing development projects, new projects and investments, employment creation, and the community development projects carried out by the port.
