High Commissioner for New Zealand Visits HIP
The newly appointed High Commissioner for New Zealand to Sri Lanka, H.E. Micheal Appleton visited the Hambantota International Port during his first official visit to the Southern Province of the country. He was accompanied by the Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Andrew Traveller and the Honorary Consul for New Zealand Mr. Senaka Silva.
Johnson Liu, CEO of Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) and Tissa Wickramasinghe, COO of HIPG welcomed the High Commissioner and his delegation and went on to brief them on various aspects of the operations and development of the port.
The delegation was briefed on the port and related services. Facilities and benefits available to investors who partner HIPG in the industrial zone were also discussed. The delegation was informed of the proactive efforts made by HIPG overseas to drive investment promotion, and the company’s close cooperation with the government authorities in expediting the facilitation of FDI projects.
H.E. Michael Appleton noted the rapid development of the port, as well as possible investment opportunities in Hambantota for New Zealand and other potential investors from all over the world.
